💸Councillor Andre Chabot supported $831-million subsidy for Flames owners, now pushing austerity on Calgarians
This week, Councillor Chabot, who helped champion the $831-million public subsidy to build a new arena for one of the richest billionaires in Canada, has announced that he intends to propose budget amendments pushing austerity on Calgarians by:
❌ Axing the existing free transit for youth 12 and under
❌ Killing Calgary's Downtown free-fare transit zone
❌ Eliminating Calgary's low income transit pass.

"Things like the free (transit) fare for children under 12 years old have created nothing but problems for our city, have put people in jeopardy, have created a safety issue on our public transit system"
“Elimination of the free fare zone downtown because, contrary to the mayor, I think it’s created more social disorder.”
-Councillor Andre Chabot
Councillor Chabot was part of the slate of Councillors that spearheaded the atrocious one-sided deal that will see Calgary taxpayers foot as much as $984-million of the 1.2-billion new arena.

📣IT'S NOT TOO LATE: Help us tell City Council to re-invest public dollars back in Calgary communities and take action on traffic safety
City Council must include more 2026 budget funding for:
- Traffic calming measures and redesign of neighbourhood streets for safety,
- Improved pedestrian crosswalks that prioritize safety and use best practices in design,
- Expansion of Calgary's protected wheeling network that has been woefully slow to provide safe options in more neighbourhoods.
