The Cycle Track Network is making it safer for more people to get around Calgary by bike. People on Bikes YYC tells the story of those people and our evolving city one snapshot at a time.
Photographer Residency Program
People on Bikes YYC operates a photographer residency program to capture photos of Calgarians and their bicycles. We select different local photographers to offer unique perspectives and approaches to street photography and portrait taking.
Winter Cycling Conference Calgary 2019 Photographers
The 2019 International Winter Cycling Conference is coming to Calgary this February 6-8. As part of our ongoing People on Bikes YYC project, we have commissioned two Calgary photographers to capture people on bikes in and around the conference this week.
Lori Andrews is an insanely happy photographer living in beautiful #YYC. She is passionate about
bikes and loves her city bike, mountain bike, cross bike and road bike equally. She is a creative working to promote feminism, social responsibility and inclusive dialogue.

Steve returns to People on Bikes YYC after his Fall 2016 residency.
"My passion for photography began in 2008. At that time, I was about 20 years in to an Information Technology career. I enjoyed my work but clearly something was missing. Photography was that missing piece. Photography became my full time occupation in 2010 and has been a challenging but rewarding path. More recently, my desire to “just be creative” has pulled me towards videography, drawing and digital design but there is nothing more rewarding than making a great picture."
Summer 2016 Resident Photographer
"I grew up in the bike-friendly city of North Vancouver and have been living in Calgary for 8 years. Although I've spent most of my working career as an engineer, I've recently turned photography from a serious hobby into a small business. I race both road and track bikes. I never was and never will be as fast as the pros but I enjoy it too much to ever stop racing. I also like to ride bikes for the pure pleasure of getting some fresh air, going out for coffee, or just plain exploring different parts of this beautiful city."
Spring 2016 Resident Photographer
"I work as a commercial, advertising and editorial photographer. I was born and raised in Calgary. I really love bikes and bike culture. I’m a huge fan of road racing but haven’t raced since 1996. I’m president of a local cycling club. I drink two cups of coffee a day. I love dogs but don’t have one. Spring is my favourite season."
