Project Calgary Funding Drive 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic in Alberta has been an ongoing reminder of the need for scientific, evidence-based public health policy in managing the province’s health care response. As we saw particularly in the third and fourth waves, the Alberta Government ignored basic modelling and scientific evidence that led to the unnecessary loss of lives, long-term illness and over 15,000 postponed surgeries.

It’s hard to believe that the situation today might have actually been worse - but it could have. Back in July, Albertans took to the streets when the Alberta Government announced it was lifting all COVID-19 public health measures including testing, tracing and isolating, despite rising cases. Thankfully, Project Calgary was able to use their digital platform and advocacy experience to quickly launch a petition and mobilize thousands of Albertans in flooding the email inboxes of every single MLA in the province and ultimately help pressure the government to reverse course before the health measures were removed.

As we move forward into 2022 it’s important that Albertans remain vocal in support of good public health protections so that we can eliminate COVID-19. I encourage everyone to consider making a donation to Project Calgary’s 2021 Funding Drive so that we can keep their 100% volunteer-run advocacy platform going strong for another year.

Help us keep Project Calgary going

Project Calgary's 2021 Funding Drive is now underway until Sunday, November 28th. Our goal is to raise $5,000 so we can continue to provide the platform and tools for community leaders to make Calgary better!

Who We Are

Project Calgary is a volunteer-run initiative started by local community advocates with the vision of focusing the knowledge and ambition of a diverse group of community leaders to build a modern, 21st century Calgary that thrives economically, culturally, environmentally and socially.

What We've Done

In recent years, the team behind Project Calgary has helped achieve massive victories that include the approval of Calgary’s Cycle Track Network, better transit like the Southwest BRT and Green Line LRT, city-wide secondary suites, less suburban sprawlCOVID-19 public health protections, lower residential speed limits, and more crisis response programs.

We Need Your Help to Keep Going

Every year, for one week we hold our Funding Drive where we ask the community for support to help us continue making Calgary better. Our goal for this year is to raise $5,000 to cover our technology costs. 100% of the money raised will go directly to pay for the digital tools that keep our advocacy platform going throughout the year.
